Daily Reading: Daniel 9:4-19
Daniel was quick to acknowledge his sin - the pronouns 'we' and 'our' are used all through this passage.
God is merciful to rebels, for which I am thankful! (v5)
Do we ignore God's voice in our lives (v6)? Many times it seems i would rather be comfortable and ignore the truth rather than face the painful reality of truth. As we discussed with Josiah last night when truth is revealed it requires us to respond!
"Lean down and listen..." (vv17-19) this is a beautiful picture of a child to a Father, begging his dad to lean down and pay special attention... very powerful for me personally. Do I yearn for God this way?
In my other readings this morning (psalm 51, psalm 103), the Lord really impressed the truth upon me that sacrifice without obedience is worthless. My fast is in vain if I do not obey. Responding to God is more important. Obedience brings irreplaceable intimacy.
courage my friends! the first few days of our fast is usually the most difficult.
