Daily Reading: Isaiah 59:9-14. As you can tell i tried to keep the readings relatively short, you will get more context by reading the whole chapter.
Justice has really taken on some increasing meaning for me recently. At roots a few weeks ago we connected the word Justice with the word Balance. The Hebrew word here is actually very close to our English definition of justice. Its the idea of wrong being punished and right being rewarded, balance being restored.
Why does God allow so much injustice in this world? Maybe a better question is - why do we?
It seems we are satisfied with so very little. God has designed us to be satisfied only by Him, then He built all of creation to give us enjoyment, yet we sit in despair and loneliness clinging to things that can never satisfy us. We are truly blind.
The analogy of our sins building a wall between us and God is quite powerful. Here we are blind, desperate, alone building obstacles and barriers to keep away the only one who truly loves us, can heal our blindness and satisfy our longing.
May every idol in our lives become like worthless ashes, and my we find true satisfaction and joy in the companionship of our God.
Courage, it gets easier from here.
