Daily Reading: Hebrews 4:14-5:10
The book of Hebrews connects us to some amazing truth about Jesus. The entire book is a study in how Christ is 'better' or 'superior' to everything from the law, to Moses, to Angels. In this passage the author is reminding us that we have the best high priest possible, as he understands our weakness because he faced all the same temptations we do.
In the middle of our temptation, Jesus can say, "I know exactly how you feel..." We can have great confidence that we are not alone, He has walked our path before us, and given us the example to follow.
This is inspirational for me. Fighting battles alone can make you weary, and the enemy knows exactly what time to strike, and when your guard is down. Knowing that Jesus understands my weakness does not justify me to choose sin, but it empowers me to resist or flee as I follow His example.
