How often to we have agendas or expectations or impure motives? Why is it that we often make life so very complex?
How often to we have agendas or expectations or impure motives? Why is it that we often make life so very complex?
We expend so much effort and time and money toward our recreation time that for many of us, it has become our meaning. Its hard to fathom why I continually get caught in this trap when the best, most memorable times of my life are laughing with my children and late night conversations with my wife.
Work can easily become a means to an end. Are you working a job you hate just to get money that ends up fueling your play? Our standard of living is continually growing and its soul-wrenching to even consider a simpler lifestyle. This cycle continues, requiring more money with each revolution to maintain the status quo. Is it possible that God had something else in mind for us that was more meaningful and beautiful?
Enjoying God... Often I find myself so busy, so consumed with a clock and the next thing on my agenda that when I finally pause to reflect, I found that instead of enjoying God, I have been ignoring Him.
God, the Star Breather, Universe Speaker, Transcendent Creator, Divine Healer, Heavenly Provider, Judge of Mankind, My Gracious Rescuer and Passionate Lover.
And each time I reflect and realize my error, it confuses me how I drifted so far, so fast.
Could it be that we have given value to so many things that in reality don't matter at all, and the things that matter most we have forgotten?
In Matthew 22:37-40, Jesus said, "You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself. The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments."
If your play, work and enjoyment of God revolved around loving Him and loving others, how would it be different?
